3 Bedroom Apartment in Laredo, Cantabria

Now booking for Spring/Summer 2024 . Stay in our light and bright top floor 3 bedroom apartment in block of 3. The property is in a 600 year old listed building which has been tastefully restored and modernised. It is situated at the beginning of the historical quarter of Laredo in the busy centre of town, with views of the mountains and town square. 5 minute walk to the large sandy bay. The apartment is surrounded by 6 Juliet balconies. 1 double bedroom with balcony, a twin room with balcony, and the 3rd bedroom is the loft room, with 2 windows. The front room has 3 balconies. It has a modern bathroom and kitchen. The apartment is reached by newly installed wooden staircase.
The area is steeped in Cantabrian history. Santander and Bilbao are accessed easily by bus or by car.
It is a 5 minute walk from the lovely 7 km sandy bay of Laredo it is a great beach for all water sports. 2 new surf schools opened last summer. The beach is very safe for all ages as it is in a large bay. The new Marina is now completed and is filling up with all types of boats. There is choice of two boats for trips around the bays and to Santona which is another seaside town also famous for its sea food and Saturday morning market.

Laredo is a small, bustling, fishing town full of tapas bars and restaurants serving real Cantabrian food and fresh fish. Laredo is known as the 'capital of the Emerald Coast'. It occupies a prominent position amongst tourist centres in Spain offering excellent nightlife and dancing in the bars in the old town. This is due to it's priveleged location on the sea and the beach 'La Salve'. It's position is further highlighted as it is set in the the beautiful mountainous countryside of Cantabria.
The town offers an excellent bus service for travellers who wish to leave their cars at home, with regular buses into Santander and Bilbao and along to the coastal villages and beaches of Noja, Isla, Santona and Castro. Laredo is accessed easily from Santander (Ferry and Airport) approximately 30 minutes drive and Bilbao (ferry and airport) is approximately 40 minutes drive.
The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao offers the latest exhibitions. Bilbao has museums, great food and shopping.
Saturday markets are held in Ampuero and Santona. Laredo Sunday, Castro on Thursday and Colindres on Friday.
Laredo has an newly built golf driving range and pitch and putt, there are golf courses in Santander. Golf can be arranged by ex PGA instructor. Please contact me for details.
This is an excellent area for rural tourism, walking, cycling, birding and canoeing in the nearby town of Ampuero. The sandy beach of Santona is approximately 15 minutes drive away. The surfing beaches of Noja and Isla are 20 minutes drive away. The Picos de Europas mountain range is about a 2 hour drive away and skiing in the winter in Alto Campo is an hour away. There are amazing walks along the cliffs behind the apartment and along to the surrounding villages.

Summary: Great spacious appartment, with a well equiped kitchen. Close to everything, stores, beach, old town. Major inconvenient: it it close to the noisiest part of town, cafes are right downstairs on both sides... Since it was summer we had the windows opened and could barely sleep, with people partying and yelling until 5 AM some nights...

Summary: This was a lovely three bedroom apartment just at the edge of the old town situated amongst a variety of bars and restaurants. The apartment is well equipped with lovely views from the multiple Juliet balconies. Great to watch life outside such as people dancing and chatting. Close to the Sunday market and a short walk to the beautiful beach. There are a couple of nice bars by the marina too. Parking is available nearby and supermarkets are a short drive away. There’s also a good supermarket in the centre. The property may not be suitable for small children due to the number of stairs to get to the property. The longer you stay the more charming it is, we had a wonderful time.

Summary: This is the best VRBO in Laredo . The flat is a 5 minute walk from the bus terminal. The location is right at the beginning of the old town. From the flat you have a birds eye view of Laredo. You are also next to all of the great restaurants. The flat was clean and the bed comfortable. The owner is super responsive. We will definitely stay here on our next visit

Summary: I have recently returned from a fabulous stay in Laredo. This apartment is excellent value, like a home from home. Spacious, modern, clean, light and fully equipped. And the location in the heart of old town Laredo over looking the square gave you a feel of real Spain. The stunning sandy beach is a short walk away and being 9k long you are never short of space. There are plenty of friendly bars and restaurants around to choose from. I can't fault the accommodation and the location, it gave a real taste of real Spain (phrase books supplied!) and will definately been returning.

Summary: Modern, roomy facilities and contemporary decor in a 16th century building on the edge of the old quarter in this lovely seaside town provided the perfect base for a relaxing holiday. The bathroom in particular is streets ahead of what you would normally expect in a holiday rental - could have spent hours in there! The property is the much-loved holiday home of the owners and local services are provided by family friends so the cleanliness and maintenance is 100% The sandy beach is a short 5 minutes away and the apartment comes equipped with beach mats, towels and even buckets and spades - if you feel so inclined.- but beds and umbrellas can also be hired cheaply on the beach itself. There's a market just round the corner with every sort of fish, meat and vegetable and there's a good supermarket a couple of streets away, or any number of well-stocked local shops almost on the doorstep. And the apartment is fully equipped for cooking at home, but as it's also surrounded by excellent, reasonably priced bars and restaurants, it's just as cheap to eat out. The tapas at the nearby Bar el Curro were the best I've ever seen or tasted, but you really will be spoilt for choice. We were there for the Battle of the Flowers fiesta which was spectacular. You can't actually see the parade from the apartment but you will be entertained by the local bands congregating in the square below, and the Juliette balconies are ideal for watching local party life in the square below until the early hours. All in all, a great find in a lovely, lovely part of Spain, well away from the main tourist drag.

Summary: This was our second visit to the apartment, and no wonder we decided to return. Great, central location for the restaurants, bars and atmosphere of the old town, but within a 5 minute walk of the beach - perfect for all members of our family. We enjoyed the beach, but as we weren't blessed with 14 days of uninterrupted sunshine were also able to venture further afield this time, and follow some of the walking/running routes outside the town. Would definitely recommend this apartment and location, whatever type of holiday you are looking for. We will be back.

Summary: Arrived at the flat and it was beautifully located right in the centre of Laredo. The listing was extremely accurate and the property was spotless and had fantastic facilities that made our stay very comfortable. The property manager was on hand at all times when required. The weather was perfect and with the beach just a 5 minute walk away we could enjoy the sun with ease. Plenty of bars and restaurants on your doorstep you will spoilt for choice. I recommend checking out the burgers at Frankfurt! We were there for the Battle of the Flowers festival and the town was extremely vibrant with local markets and it was amazing to see the floats with their unique and bright themes. With Bilbao and Santander just a thirty minute drive away with great bus links, each city provided a great new experience with differing Spanish history. We rented a car and went to Cabarceno for a day which is what felt like the biggest zoo/safari parks I've been to and at just 50 € per adult it is a great day out not to be missed! Check out the bird show, absolutely spectacular. We also went to the Picos de Europa and Potes on the way which was a brilliant drive through the mountains culminating in a cable car up a large cliff face, beware if you are afraid of hights but once up there the views are breathtaking with tracks for hiking (so sensible shoes advised) and with the added humorous bonus of friendly mountain greeting you at the top. All in all, fantastic beach holiday with opportunity for great days out for everyone and I will definitely be going back!

Summary: The apartment was full of character and charm whilst being presented in a smart and partly contemporary way. Located in the heart of the lively and very attractive Laredo old town and within a short walking distance of the huge beautiful beach, shops and restaurants. Trips to the nearby Jurassic Park style safari, the Guggleheim in Bilboa and caves in the surrounding hills were highlights of our stay in the area. Julie was very helpful providing information on the town and local area to ensure we made the most of our stay. We found it best to park just outside the centre of town and take a stroll to the apartment.

Summary: We ( family of four ) stayed for ten nights in this lovely apartment. The location is excellent, right in the middle of town and ten minutes walk from a fantastic beach ( no big waves, great for swimming ). We cooked most nights and the local supermarket ( "Lupa" ) stocked all kinds of delicious food and drink. There is no Wifi, but internet access is cheap at the little shop next door. Spaniards stay out late at night, and the streets were quite noisy until 1am, as in any Spanish town. The apartment is spacious, clean and very well equipped. We parked ( free ) on the street a few minutes walk away. On the last day we discovered incredible chicken kebabs just two doors up the street. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!!
